Local Indivisible groups formed across Michigan, and the country, in the wake of the 2016 election.  The original Indivisible Guide, a Google Doc that circulated online, provided a practical plan for ordinary people to mobilize against the Trump agenda.

Soon, neighbors created Indivisible chapters that grew into communities of grassroots activists, and Indivisible became a nationwide organization, focused on promoting and protecting a democracy that is of, by, and for the people.  In the days that have followed, local Indivisible groups have mobilized in their communities, made their voices heard, and worked to elect officials and advance policies aligned with their values.

StateWide Indivisible Michigan (SWIM)

StateWide Indivisible Michigan (SWIM) formed in 2019 as a coalition to connect and support local Indivisible groups from across the state.  Today we empower the movement by:

  • Meeting with our statewide elected officials

  • Training members in Racial Equity and Inclusion, digital tools, framing the conversation and more

  • Connecting local leaders to national resources

  • Organizing statewide voter registration programs

  • Building an army of volunteers in support of progressive candidates

  • Leading members from across the State and all political backgrounds to create a future for generations

Indivisible Groups

SWIM member groups focus on making Michigan's future.

We are doing it from the ground up. Our locals are focused on their communities and bringing power to progressive ideas, candidates and solutions.

Indivisible members from all over Michigan were a force for change at the local, state, and federal levels over the past 4 years.

We are not taking a victory lap until Michigan's future is in the hands of voters. We want lawmakers in Lansing to represent citizens instead of the special interests, and promote truth and transparency over lies and conspiracy.

We won and we're ready for what's next!
